Got a text on the 12th Oct at 2:31pm claiming to be from MNBA. It said there was an attempt to pay £280 to Amazon and asked me to reply YES if it was me, or NO if it wasn’t. Then it warned that if I ignored the message, I might lose access to my account. The message didn’t use my name or any account details, and the grammar was pretty rubbish too. Felt quite dodgy to me.

I got a text at first saying someone had tried to do an Amazon payment for £280 on my MBNA card using a mobile. Later, they rang me up and mentioned they’d stop the payment, but said they were going to send me another text so I could verify my phone and set it as the main contact for future payments. Soon after, I received a message which they asked me to click on to confirm. They obviously had my phone number and even my last name, which made it quite convincing.
