I've been getting loads of texts from this number, and I can definitely say it's actually Essex police who's been trying to reach me.

I rang 101 to check the number, and they confirmed the officer's name matched but said the number isn’t actually from Essex police.

She claimed to be an officer with Kent Police, looking into a case regarding a stolen bank card belonging to someone named Trevor Steele. She left a voicemail indicating she would reach out again and also sent a text containing a crime reference number.

Got a text claiming to be from Kent police recently. Just a heads up, they never use personal numbers to contact anyone. If the sender isn't clearly labelled as Kent police, it’s best to ignore it. Definitely keep clear of those messages.

I contacted the Essex Police about a complaint regarding an officer who was driving way too fast and on the wrong side of the road, which made me have to slam my brakes to avoid crashing into them. After I called to report it, I got a text from their Quality of Service Team. Just so you know, the police car wasn’t using any flashing lights or sirens at the time.

It was such a strange call! The person on the other end seemed like they could be a telemarketer, but they didn’t sound pushy, just a bit awkward. They kept stuttering and hanging up quickly when I tried to ask who they were. I looked up the number afterwards to see if it was safe or some scam, but couldn’t find much info. Definitely made me wary about picking up unknown numbers in the future!
