I've had a comparable encounter - received two phone calls, both claiming to come from Ladbrokes. They mentioned that the IT Director was keen to speak with our CEO, and subsequently with our MD, even providing names. When I rang Ladbrokes back to verify, they didn’t seem to recognise anyone by that name at all. Quite suspicious, to say the least!

Received a phone call from a chap named Graham Thomas, who claimed to represent JCB. He requested that my managing director get in touch with his Director, a fellow by the name of James Sullivan, later today at 075000 80989 to chat about an ongoing project.
