Someone pretended to be my daughter, saying she’d dropped her phone in the sink, which actually happens to her now and then. After a few hours of chatting through messages, the caller suddenly asked me to urgently send some money, claiming she had to cover a private surgery because she couldn’t wait for NHS treatment. They gave me bank details under the name Mr Zephon Cox-Gayle and wanted me to transfer £1,749, then send a photo of the payment once I’d done it.

This was a total con! They called pretending to be a relative but said they had a temporary phone and wanted me to transfer cash. Definitely a scam, don’t fall for it!
