Just a quick follow-up on what I said before - I dialled that number again shortly after, and a bloke answered. When I asked if it was the bank’s security team, he quickly replied “no, wrong number” and hung up. It’s mad that BT lets companies use private numbers like that without stopping it. Why haven’t they got on top of this by now?

Got a call claiming to be from the bank’s security team, saying there were two suspicious charges on my account, one for £199 and another for £891. They told me to press "1" to confirm or "2" to speak to security. When I hit "2", the same message just repeated like a robot, it didn’t even pause for what I said. Then, finally I was put through to a woman who asked what she could do for me. When I asked which bank she was with, she just hung up straight away. This isn’t the first time I’ve come across this scam.
