Just received a text saying: "hsbc security alert: a new payee called mrs k adams got added on 26/01/2021. if you didn’t do this, check out: [#]banking.secure-recipient{###." Never opened anything with hsbc before, so this has to be some kinda scam. Definitely spam.

Got a message from HSBC about a new payee being set up on my account. Thing is, I don’t even have an account with them. Just a heads up - don’t respond if you get something similar, it’s sketchy.

Got a message saying that a new payee was added to my HSBC account. I do have accounts with HSBC but the name was unfamiliar, and they never usually contact me like that. It felt dodgy, so I ignored it and deleted the text. I’m also planning to forward the details to my HSBC contacts so they know what’s going on.
