Got a call from 07495557545 just now, it was some robotic voice telling me there were loads of charges on my bank account and asking if I wanted to report it. I cut the call straight away and checked my bank, turns out everything was alright. Big scam warning, definitely watch out!

Got a voicemail from some Amazon deal saying they'd charged me £89.99. They told me to press 1 to get a refund. I pressed it but absolutely nothing happened. Was just stuck at home with nothing to do, so figured I'd give it a go for a laugh.

I'd suggest folks think about using BT Guardian Operated - this stops these callers from actually talking to anyone. To me, it seems like a scam since the callers, often Indian or Asian, claim to be from Virgin or SKY, and those companies don’t usually call people out of the blue (getting through to them when you’ve got issues is tough enough as it is!). Since I’m deaf, I wouldn’t be able to hear them over the phone, so I’d just hang up straight away.

I’d suggest folks to think about getting something like BT Guardian because it stops these types of calls from getting through to anyone. Honestly, I reckon it’s a scam - most of them sound like they’re from India or somewhere in Asia, pretending to be from Virgin or SKY. Neither company usually makes cold calls like that, especially when you consider how tricky it is to reach them when you actually need support. As I’m deaf, hearing them on the phone isn’t even an option for me, so I just hang up straight away.

Got a call from a number I didn’t know so I just let it ring through to voicemail. No message was left, which pretty much screams scam to me. After looking it up here, I'm relieved I didn’t pick up in the first place.

I got a recorded call supposedly from my bank about confirming some activity on my Visa credit card. It sounded like a verification thing but seemed fishy.

I got a call on my home phone from this number earlier, and they said they were from Virgin Media about my internet. I told them everything was fine, then they just cut the call. Nothing wrong with my connection at all.

Got a call from this number again less than two hours after the first one. The person on the line said he was from Virgin Media, saying there was some urgent issue with my internet connection that needed fixing straight away. Sounded suspicious since he couldn’t tell me my Virgin area code. I kept him on the phone for about ten minutes before he finally gave up and hung up!

I received a call from this number, and it was a recorded message claiming to be from the Visa Fraud team. They were attempting to deceive me by stating there were two dubious transactions linked to my account - one to Amazon and another to an overseas account. Quite the cheeky scam if you ask me!

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian-sounding accent, pretty clear it was some kind of scam. So, I just told him off and slammed the phone down straight away.

Today my landline rang from 07494557505. The caller had a thick Pakistani or Indian accent and spoke very broken English. He claimed to be from Sky and said someone abroad was using my internet without permission. Honestly, I struggled to follow what he was saying, so I told him I was satisfied with my internet service. At that point, he started threatening to cut off my internet! I asked to speak to his manager or supervisor to sort things out, but he said he couldn’t transfer me, so I ended the call. Been getting loads of these dodgy calls recently!

Today, I got a phone call from 074955705 claiming to be from BT. I wasn’t buying it for a second, had a good laugh and told them it was a scam. Of course, they ended the call straight away. Typical!

I got a call with some robot voice talking about supposed visa charges from Amazon and some overseas money transfer stuff, then it gave options to talk to someone else and all that. I just left it ringing without hitting any buttons to see if a real person would pick up for a laugh, but no luck! Seems like loads of these scams are doing the rounds at the moment.

I initially figured it was something like what’s described below.

Received a call on my BT landline on 11 May from 07494557505. It was some American bloke warning me about suspicious activity on my VISA card, supposedly linked to Amazon. He used an automatic message and then just cut the call. Banks don’t get in touch like this, so it’s definitely a scam. I’ve reported it over at bt.com/scams.

Some bloke claiming to be from Microsoft rang me up saying my account had been compromised and someone was using my identity. I asked how I could be sure the call was legit, and they got pretty annoyed with me.

The accent definitely sounded like it was from somewhere in Southeast Asia, which made me suspicious. I think it was a scam trying to take over the phone number or something fishy like that. Be careful if you get calls like this!
