Got a text from this number about some tax refund, which seemed dodgy since I’m unemployed. I reckon loads of folks could be tricked because it prompts you to fill out a form online to get the money. Seriously, don’t bother with it.

Got a voicemail on 13/11/19 saying I owed back taxes, sounded pretty threatening.

Got a creepy voicemail from some bloke with an Indian accent saying he was Denis Grey. He kept threatening that I’d get arrested if I didn’t cough up some old tax audit money right away over the phone. Proper dodgy stuff.

Got a call from some woman who insisted it wasn’t a cold call. When I asked if I ever gave them permission to ring, she just ended the call. Blocked straight away.

Someone rang me saying they were from HMRC, but I got suspicious and tried calling the number back from another phone. The voice was definitely Indian and when I asked for his name, he started shouting at me in Hindi (which I understand) and then just cut the call. Definitely a scam, so don’t bother answering!

Got a call from 07491430947, with a message saying I had to call back HMRC straight away or face legal action. I work as an accountant and deal with HMRC loads so the whole thing felt off straight away - HMRC wouldn’t be ringing from a mobile about tax debts. Plus, I’m on PAYE and keep a close eye on all my payslips and P60s, so I know I don’t owe them a penny. Honestly, don’t even think about calling that number back or giving any info - it’s definitely a scam!

I got a call from 07491 430947 this morning around 11, but they didn’t leave a message. When I rang them back, they told me there was an error in my tax returns from 2013 to 2018 and said I owe nearly £4,000. They threatened to freeze my bank accounts and even seize my car or house if I didn't pay. They also tried to get my insurance number, saying it could end up with black marks against it, and asked for my address too. Really dodgy stuff.
