I got a ring from someone pretending to be from HMRC, but the real HM Revenue & Customs never actually calls you unless it’s about something you already know about. This is a classic scam where they try to scare you into paying up. I heard some folks have been duped out of nearly £4000! Apparently, tens of thousands of these calls have been reported, so best thing to do is just put the phone down straight away.
