I got a message saying, "Hello, I came across your post on Gumtree. I have a property matching what you're looking for. Could you share your email so I can forward you pics and info?" My ad was actually about looking for a rental somewhere in the Highlands, and I’d left my email and phone number on Gumtree. I didn’t bother following up though as they didn’t provide much info and didn’t use Gumtree’s email system. Felt a bit off to me.

Beware of a scam involving a property supposedly in Lochgelly, Scotland. We’ve already been scammed out of £1000 and just received a message this morning demanding another £500. The person behind it calls herself Denise Couchman and claims to have a solicitor named Vincent Martin. She gave Monza bank details: account number 59257681 and sort code 04-00-04. The woman says she is deaf and insists on communicating only through email. Her email address is: [email protected]. She got in touch after I posted an advert on Gumtree Edinburgh. Be careful out there!
