Got a text from +44 7488 845143 saying it was Barclays warning me about a suspicious transaction of £76.99 to Argos on 31/07/2023 at 10:39. They asked me to reply 'Y' if I made the purchase or 'N' if I didn’t. I sent back 'N'. Then they rang me from 0800 901 2022. Luckily, before calling back, I looked up that number on this site and found out others got the exact same message for the same amount. When I told the guy I’d ring Barclays directly and mentioned I’d checked the number online, he sounded a bit thrown and then just ended the call. Felt dodgy all around.

Got a text saying: BARCLAYS Fraud Alert: Please confirm a purchase of £76.99 at 'Argos' on 27/07/2023 12:51. Reply with 'Y' if you made this purchase, or 'N' if you didn’t.

I rang Barclays to double check, and they told me they hadn’t sent anything and it was a scam trying to trick me.
