Got calls from this number 5 times within just a few hours, all pushing some financial advice. Just like a lot of others, i picked up the phone but it took a bit for the line to connect so i knew straight away it was some overseas call centre. I said hello and then they just hung up on me. I’m definitely gonna block this number. They’ve rang me at least 4 times already. Makes me feel sorry for older people who might not be as cautious with these calls.

I picked up the call from this number and the person claimed to be from a debt collection company. I told them there’s no way I owe anything, but then he said he got an email saying I had outstanding credit card debts. Thing is, I’ve never owned a credit card, not even once. I told him that, and he said he’d verify the info and call me back. I just told him to forget it and take my number off their list immediately.

Got a call from some Financial Advice Bureau, saying a bunch of finance firms had shared my info with them. Oddly, at first he mentioned a different company altogether. Then he launched into this spiel about a government programme that cancels 80% of your debts. Claimed GFC was tied in with Citizens Advice and some other finance organisations I’d never come across. When I asked how sharing personal info like mine didn’t breach GDPR rules, he went quiet. After a few more questions from me, he just gave up and said he’d remove my name from their contact lists.

It sounded like it was coming from a call centre in the background, really fuzzy and crackly, so I guess it was from somewhere like India. I picked up and just heard loads of noise, said hello a few times but no one replied. Thought it was just another irritating call centre pestering me, so I ended the call. I’ve blocked the number since it’s likely some sort of scam.
