Got this automated call with a British accent saying it's HMRC, telling me there’s some issue with my account and that I could face criminal charges. They said if I want to avoid this, press 1. When I did, a voice with an American accent came on, then the call just dropped. As far as I know, HMRC normally gets in touch through letters, not phone calls like this. Definitely a scam.

They kept saying they got my number somehow, which is why they managed to call me, but never told me who they were or why. When I called the number back, it just said it wasn't connected anymore.
