Got a call from this number and it was a recorded message pretending to be from HMRC. It said there were mistakes with my tax code and warned about possible criminal charges if I didn’t sort it straightaway, plus threats about passport delays and similar rubbish. If HMRC have an issue, they always send official letters, not calls. They don’t have everyone’s phone numbers, so these scammers rely on frightening folks into thinking it’s legit, especially with the “press 1 to continue” bit. It’s a dodgy scam, so watch out and just block the number, then report it!
