I received a rather suspicious call today where the caller claimed I was about to receive a cheque for almost £3000, promising delivery right to my door. They even provided me with a six-digit code! Strangely enough, they already had both my name and address, which set off some alarm bells. The individual kept insisting that there were no PPI companies operating in the UK anymore and insisted they were contacting me on behalf of the government. When I started to question their motives and asked when I could expect the cheque, they abruptly cut the conversation short. It's clear to me this is nothing but a scam!

Got a call from this number out of the blue, and I already guessed it was a scam. I hit answer and just left my phone down without saying anything. A man with an accent that wasn’t British (maybe Russian?) kept trying to speak to me - I think he was trying to say my first name but kept messing it up. Not like I would’ve chatted to a scammer even if he’d got it right. After about 22 seconds of me staying quiet and confused, he just hung up. The background noise sounded like it was from one of those call centre places.

Got a call from some call centre. Total scam. A woman was shouting down the phone, called me by my name but wouldn’t say who she was. It went like this: Her: “I’m ringing to tell you your PPI claim has been approved.” Me: Oh really? Her: “Could you please confirm your details?” Me: That’s strange, I never had any insurance or made a claim. Her: “Are you sure? The payout is around £12,000.” Me: Absolutely sure. Her: “Hmm, must be a mistake then.” Me: Nah, sounds like a scam to me. She just hung up and I’m sure she moved onto someone else. Watch out, folks.

The person sounded like they weren’t from the UK and their English was quite bad, maybe Indian because of the way they spoke. They said my PPI claim was accepted and would be sorted by some government office. I told them I didn’t even make a claim and they just hung up. I called back but got an answer machine saying the caller was from mmsi and would ring me again sometime later.

I think the company’s named MMSI or something close. Picked up the phone and they just cut off straight away, so I rang back. Got an automated voice saying it was MMSI calling, then a message to press 1 if I wanted to be taken off their list or 5 to speak to someone. Pressed 1 and then blocked the number. I had a good chuckle. I almost didn’t pick up, but when I did, some woman with a thick accent asked for me. I asked who it was and she went on about PPI or something (and honestly she sounded really fed up, poor woman). I told her to remove my number, since I’ve had like a million calls from them. She snapped back with “Nooooooo shut up!” and just cut me off haha. Best to just ignore it, not only is it dodgy, but they’re so rude and sound proper miserable on the phone.

Got a call from an Asian gentleman who kept asking if I was someone else, a name that isn’t even mine. I just said no and he ended the call. This has happened like three or four times now, always asking if I'm that person on my mobile. I've even had the same question on my landline. Been getting loads of calls from this number, always some bloke with an Asian accent claiming to be 'Dave' or 'Steve' (yeah, right!). I’ve been getting calls from this number non-stop over the past few days, probably around ten times! Highly annoying. I finally just blocked it and marked it as spam after reading some stuff about it here. Definitely avoid answering if you don’t recognise the number.

I got a call from a man with an Indian accent claiming to be from the "government," saying I was owed £3000 from a PPI payout, even though I never applied for one. I listened to everything he said but when he asked me to verify my personal info, I didn’t share a thing. That's when he started calling me uneducated. When I told him to erase my details, he started shouting "shut the fxxk up" over and over before abruptly hanging up. Honestly, it was really threatening and definitely rude behaviour.

Got a missed call from an unfamiliar number today, hadn't a clue who it was. After going through what folks have shared here, I've marked it as suspicious. Next time they ring, I’ll know exactly how to handle it - won't be giving them the time of day.

Got a call from some PPI firm just now, and the bloke was really quite abrupt. I mentioned I’m on the TPS and asked if it was a sales pitch, to which he insisted it wasn’t, saying it was about PPI. Sounds like sales to me! I reminded him that calling me while I’m on the TPS list could get him fined, and he cheekily told me to go ahead and report him. He said he was from the Claims Advisory Service and spoke with an Asian accent. Quite dodgy if you ask me.

Got a call on my mobile, they wanted to talk to my son. I told them it wasn't his number and they politely ended the call. Seeing what others have said here, I’ve decided to block the number now.

Got a call from an Asian guy about my PPI refund. He kept pushing me to sign up for some insurance policy, saying if I didn't, I'd only get around £800 instead of the full £4700. Total scam, mate. Ridiculous stuff.

I had a rather peculiar phone call today from someone adamant I was a certain Susan Moore, using the mobile number mentioned earlier. Oddly familiar, as I received a similar call last week from a number in Cardiff. Just to be on the safe side, I reached out to the police who confirmed it’s all a scam. Stay vigilant, everyone!

I got a call from some Claims people, and the woman on the other end was really disrespectful. When I asked her where she got my number, she snapped at me, saying "Why you asking silly questions?" and then just cut me off. If this number rings you, better block it straight away.

I got a call from Michael, who had a really thick Asian accent, saying he was from some Claims Advisory Group about some PPI I supposedly missed. I just ended the call straight away.
