Got one of those Barclays text scams too, just like the one mentioned earlier. Decided to just not bother with it.

Got a message claiming to be from Barclays about a "reported" PayPal transaction. It asked me to reply yes if I recognised it or no if I didn’t. Then they texted back saying someone would contact me soon. Had a look at my bank account and there was no sign of any payment like that at all!
