I just received a dodgy text indicating that I’ve apparently missed several calls from what claims to be Apple, along with a suspicious link. Total scam alert! Best to steer clear of that nonsense!

Got a text saying I have one missed message from Apple with a link to click, something like 23.254.133.10/uk2. It also had an unsubscribe link at unsubscribe.mobi. Didn’t tap on any of it, just deleted straight away!

Rather than pressing ok, head into your settings, scroll down to Safari, and near the bottom there’s an option to clear history and website data - tap that instead.

So I got this message and decided to tap the link. Now Safari popped up with some sort of weird window telling me to hit OK to prove I’m using an iPhone. The annoying part is I can’t get rid of that Safari popup no matter what I try.

If you get a text from a company you don’t recognise, it’s a good idea to tell your network provider about it. They might be able to stop those messages coming through from that number again. You can either ring your network’s customer support or use one of the reporting numbers below: For EE, Orange, T-Mobile and O2, just send the text you got to 7726. Vodafone users can do the same by forwarding the message to 7726 or 87726. If you’re with Three, send it to 7726 or 37726. A handy tip to remember 7726 is that the numbers actually spell out SPAM on your phone keypad.
