I received a rather dodgy call today, purporting to be from HMRC. The voice on the other end was distinctly robotic and it went on to accuse me of being involved in tax fraud! Can you believe it? The nerve! It demanded that I press button 1 to 'speak with my case officer.' Obviously, this is nothing but a scam!

Got a call from 07478543408 claiming to be HMRC. I’m not employed and don’t earn enough to pay tax, so it’s obviously a scam. Didn’t bother calling them back at all.

got a call from someone saying they were from hmrc, said a letter they sent was returned and threatened with legal trouble if i didn’t press one. if you don’t respond, they just hang up after a bit. called back to check and it just said they weren't taking any calls. totally a scam, don’t fall for it!
