I got a call from 07477 475300 and an automated voice said it was from UK HMRC about a letter they'd supposedly sent me, warning me of a fine if I didn’t respond. It asked me to press 1 to speak with someone. When I did, I was put through to a woman with an Indian accent who asked why I'd called. I told her it was her company that’d rung me. Then she wanted my name, but when I said I doubted she was really from HMRC, she just ended the call.
