Got a ring just as I was walking out the door. They hung up before I even managed to get round to answer or voicemail picked up. Made me think it was probably some dodgy call centre scam. If they don’t leave a message, it’s obviously not worth my time - straight to block.

Got called by some Indian call centre claiming they were doing a survey about my doctor’s surgery and updating info for life insurance. Obviously I didn’t fall for it and blocked the number straight away. Bet a new number will ring me next week though. The weird thing is, it didn’t come up as a blocked caller on my phone. I usually don’t pick up unless I’m waiting for a call, so it’s tricky to know whom to trust. Mobile networks really ought to step up and warn us better about these scam calls.

This man with a strong Asian accent claimed he knew I’d had my Covid jab and also had life insurance, then proceeded to ask who it was with. I told him I wasn’t sharing any personal details and asked which company he represented. He said something about the UK Health Association, which I’m pretty sure doesn’t actually exist. When I told him this, he got rather annoyed.

Got a ring from 0780022553 and the other number just recently, they said they were from some sort of public health registry asking about my covid jabs. Watch out for scammers - best not to get involved. When they ring me, I turn the tables on them. For every query they throw at me, I tell them I need their bank info and a fee upfront before I can respond. I keep repeating that line without fail. They usually get really frustrated and eventually just hang up.

I got a call from someone claiming to be with the British Medical Association wanting me to update my medical info. They had an outdated postcode from like 15 years back. Even though they used the actual BMA address, when I got wary and questioned them (I work in healthcare and understand data privacy), they gave me a dodgy phone number. Seriously, never share any personal or health info unless you’re absolutely sure it’s your GP on the line.

Some bloke called "Sam" with a thick Eastern European accent said he was ringing from a UK medical service. He claimed he’d got my info off a medical forum and wanted to make sure my details and Covid jabs were all current for any upcoming vaccinations. When I told him I’m on the Telephone Preference Service and asked how he got my info, he just cut the call straight away.
