This number rang me up, saying all kinds of threats about supposed tax evasion. They managed to trick me into sending money straight into a fraudster’s bank account. I’m fairly new here and still trying to get my head around which phone codes are for mobiles or landlines, so I didn’t really think twice about the number at the time. It was only after I found out I’d been conned that I rang HMRC. While waiting to talk to someone, their automated message said they don’t ever phone people - wish I’d known that before I got caught out!
