It turns out that first call was a scam, someone pretending to be from Autotrader telling me there was an error on my listing that meant I'd be charged more. They said once fixed they'd issue a refund and asked me to confirm my card details. I only realised how daft I was after I’d given some info and ended the call. Right after that, I got another call, this time supposedly from John Lewis security saying my card was at risk.
