When I’m feeling cheeky, I answer and give them silly replies like "wibble" (from that Blackadder show) when they ask my name. I say "Wibble O’Wibble". Why not? He told me I had to answer his questions to be taken off the list, but I said I wasn’t answering anything and just wanted to be removed straight away, nicely. Even tho we're on the TPS list, we still get loads of cold calls, mostly from some robo voice about the Government Green Deal - which ended ages ago, so I instantly knew it was dodgy. Their company name keeps switching, at the moment they’re called First Home Solutions and claim to recycle old windows to help fund replacements. These lot are a right nuisance, completely disregarding the TPS and acting like it doesn’t matter if you’re signed up or not.

Plus, there was loads of background noise so we both struggled to hear each other properly.

A while back I answered a call where the person thanked me for picking up. Said it was about gov money for windows and that they got my number from some national database. I told them I’m on the TPS register. They said sorry and promised to take my name off their list. Well that clearly wasn’t true! They still ring, but now I just let it go to voicemail and ignore it. This number rang my landline here in Lanarkshire, Scotland. I pretty much never pick up my landline anyway. What I do is wait for the call to finish, then redial the number to see who it is. Most of the time it turns out to be some sort of marketing or cold call. All my mates and family give me a heads up on my mobile before they ring the landline, so I know it's them. Otherwise, I just call the number back if it's familiar. Best not to answer calls unless you know who’s on the other end. Easy enough.

No clue! The call centre was so noisy I only caught the first “hello thank you for calling” then everything else was lost in the racket. She kept jabbering away but I honestly don’t know what about. With all the scams going on these days, you just can’t be too careful. He quickly tried to assure me he wasn’t a scammer, but I repeated again that I don’t give out details on calls. After I explained my reasons, he just hung up on me.
