Got a message this morning saying I’d been near someone who tested positive for Covid and that I needed to arrange a PCR test. Then they wanted my card info to pay for it. Since the government doesn’t require payment for PCR tests anymore, this has to be a scam.

I had no clue about that company, and then they told me not to sign up so I wouldn’t waste anyone’s time. Quite odd if you ask me.

Looks like this number belongs to a call centre, cause there’s loads of similar ones reported nearby, just the last digits change. That’s pretty usual, they tend to run a bunch of numbers in the same range. Most reports say it’s for surveys, though some say different things. I gave it a ring back but got nothing, says number’s not active. Probably a one-way line from the call centre, so you can’t call them directly. Has anyone else actually managed to talk to someone at this number?

It appears that someone posing as Test and Trace is claiming that a person you were recently in close proximity to has received a positive Covid-19 result. They are suggesting you schedule a test via this suspicious link (which doesn’t seem quite right). Proceed with caution!

Received a message from this number claiming to be Test & Trace, supposedly in response to an alert I got from the app yesterday. I decided not to click on the link for the home testing kit, but I have gone ahead and arranged a PCR test, just to be on the safe side.

I received a message that seemed to be from track and trace. It feels decidedly suspicious since I've hardly left the house this past week, so there's no way I could have encountered anyone!

I came across what seems to be a dodgy track and trace scheme. I clicked on the link, and it prompted me to enter my personal information before asking for a payment to send out a test kit. Very suspicious!

I made my way back from France on a ferry yesterday and had to complete a passenger locator form. At half past one in the morning, I received a message from this number claiming I had been in close contact and needed to arrange a PCR test. In my half-asleep daze, I initially took it as a notification from test and trace, but upon a closer look in the morning, I had my doubts. The only legitimate way they could supposedly inform me was through the form, assuming test and trace is still operational. However, for someone to have tested positive, notified test and trace, and for them to reach out to me all within a mere 12 hours seems highly improbable. Even if that individual took a PCR test right as they disembarked, results typically take a day or two. Moreover, ferries are rather large vessels-would they genuinely reach out to every passenger on board, especially when most wouldn't have crossed paths with the infected person? If that were the case, surely my wife, who accompanied me, would have received the same message, yet she did not. Plus, with the requirement to self-isolate lifted, why would they even bother contacting anyone? Additionally, PCR testing kits appear to be non-existent now; while lateral flow kits are accessible, getting a PCR test necessitates a trip to a testing centre. Lastly, it’s worth noting that every official government text I've received has clearly stated the organisation’s name in the header - NHS Booking, NHS Vaccine, and so forth. This one merely displayed a phone number-one that looked suspiciously like a personal mobile-and the phrase "test and trace" was relegated to the body of the message. I'm convinced this can only be a scam.

Just received a text from this number moments ago, claiming to be a Track and Trace update. What a load of nonsense! Definitely dodgy!

Absolutely a scam! I received a message myself this morning. Just to clarify, I’m employed by UKHSA, and Test and Trace is defunct now, so there's no requirement for a PCR test anymore.

This is clearly a phoney tracking message requesting your bank information. Absolute scam, very suspicious indeed! Avoid providing any details. I tried ringing the number but was directed to voicemail. I've sent a message notifying them that I’ve reported their dodgy activities to the fraud team and the authorities.

I keep receiving these phony text messages claiming that I've tested positive for Covid and urging me to check out some dodgy website, presumably linked to that Alibaba outfit from China. It's all a ruse to bombard my device with annoying ads and push those test kits for sale! Honestly, I get hit with these ridiculous messages nearly every week. It’s utterly vile, and my heart goes out to anyone who might fall for such nonsense!
