I've been caught out by this individual. Definitely a dodgy character-better steer clear of him entirely. His sole interest appears to be lining his pockets. I'd recommend contacting the authorities!

Absolutely! I've experienced that too.

I reckon the authorities will only take action when he truly oversteps the mark, but it seems this sort of individual is quite adept at staying just within the boundaries. It’s clear they are aware of his identity and whereabouts.

I reached out to the local constabulary in Staffordshire regarding my situation. Their response was rather disheartening; they informed me that there was little they could do, as it falls under what's deemed a 'civil matter'. It felt as though the officer was suggesting that the swindler wasn’t committing a crime simply due to my prior agreement to hand over the funds. This stance essentially leaves the door wide open for these con artists to exploit the generosity and goodwill of others, all while eluding the grasp of the law. How frustrating!

I fell victim to a scam just like the two previous commentators on Saturday, 26th June, while I was at Frankley on the M5, approximately around half eleven in the morning. I've informed West Midlands Police and also reported it to Action Fraud, but alas, I've yet to hear back from either of them. The vehicle in question was a silver Vauxhall, registration VIG2342. The chap I encountered was very persuasive and seemed genuinely appreciative, spinning a sob story about coming back from Belgium and needing funds to return to Ireland and support his kids. He even shared his phone number (07721 950844) and introduced me to his children, plus he was eager to show me his identification. I refrained from contacting the number, as only a couple of minutes after parting ways, I had the instinct to look up his number plate and stumbled upon this site. I harboured a suspicion that something wasn’t right the whole time, yet I couldn’t shake the thought that it could be me in a tough predicament with my children. Honestly, I’m not too fussed about the £100 I parted with; my greater worry lies in the reality that others might fall prey to this scam who are less fortunate and unable to absorb such losses. This kind of deceit could deter people from assisting those who are truly in need, and it’s heartbreaking to think his children are being exploited as props in this nefarious act. I sincerely hope karma catches up with him soon and he faces the consequences of his actions.

On Saturday, the 26th of June, just as I was about to leave, a man approached me and requested £300, claiming he needed it to catch a ferry to Ireland. He professed his faith in Christ, assured me he was a devout Christian, and kept repeating "God bless you". He provided me with his details: **Name:** John Donagh **Phone Number:** 07393166868 **Vehicle:** Silver Vauxhall, Registration: VIG2342 I attempted to ring the number he offered, but despite my efforts, it just rang out with no response. Out of sheer curiosity, I decided to look up the car registration, and that’s how I stumbled across this site. I’m not keen on retrieving my money; instead, I’m focused on raising awareness to prevent others from falling prey to this deceitful conduct that takes advantage of genuine kindness and goodwill. Hence, I’ve reported this incident to the service centre as well as informed the local police (PCSO Colin Hodgkinson). Being a Buddhist monk, alongside another monk, we certainly stood out, so I reckon if the CCTV picked up footage of a man conversing with us, it would help in narrowing down a suspect for anyone reviewing the tapes. The pivotal thing now is to access that facial recognition from the CCTV. It's crucial for service station staff to be forewarned about this scam, so they can alert local authorities upon encountering the individual.

Would you mind sending me that picture? I fell victim to a scam last Saturday and ended up losing £300. I've already reached out to Keele Services and the local police about it, and I've filed a report with Action Fraud as well.

I experienced a similar ordeal to what others have recounted - it occurred at Hilton Park services on the M6, travelling northbound, on the 22nd of May, 2021. The vehicle in question was a silver Vauxhall with the registration VIG2342. I was utterly stunned when I decided to look up his phone number and discovered he'd been active with it for a full three months prior. When I requested a picture from him, he was surprisingly compliant; however, the authorities mentioned that it was of little help since his face was obscured by a mask. I would strongly urge the individual who posted on 28th April 2021 to share their photo with the police if they haven’t done so already - they informed me that they’re attempting to connect all the incidents linked to this specific phone number. Regrettably, they indicated they lacked sufficient leads to make an arrest. It’s really disheartening. If only they could track his number to a nearby mast that services one of those areas, surely, they’d have a solid chance of apprehending him, presuming it’s the same person behind all these reports.

If anyone hasn’t done so yet, I would strongly urge you to report to Action Fraud. It’s crucial that we all contribute as much information as possible. The authorities need a little nudge to take action against this individual; if not, it’s likely he’ll keep on deceiving unsuspecting, genuine folks. Just a heads up about this bloke I encountered! Had a similar experience on the M25 services just yesterday. He spun some tale about his card being frozen and needing fuel, you know the usual nonsense... In the end, I ended up giving him £50. Do yourself a favour and alert the authorities if you come across him! Stay sharp!

Blimey, that blighter had me fooled! It was the same old tale about making his way from Belgium over to Ireland. He even had his lad in tow and a car stuffed to the brim with "baggage" to really sell the story. Surprisingly charming chap, I must admit... He’s going on about being all about family values and a man of faith too. Complete rot, if you ask me.

I had a similar experience just yesterday. This chap claims to be from Belgium and was after some cash for fuel and a ferry to reach Ireland. Goes by the name of John Donnagh. I honestly thought I was doing a good deed helping a family trying to get back home, and I ended up giving him £250. Fingers crossed he gets flagged up eventually because he really knows how to tug at people’s heartstrings.

At present, he's been spotted in Cannock, just south of Stafford, continuing with his dubious scheme, and, regrettably, he's found some success. The usual caveats apply here. He possesses various documents and has a child with him to lend credence to his story. Exercise caution, as he's quite adept at spinning his tale and knows how to charm his way through.

This morning was quite the surprise at Stafford Services on the M6 (28/04/21). Just like that, £90 vanished. I believed I’d covered all the bases with my queries, but he was quick with responses to all of them. I managed to snap a picture of him along with his vehicle. Fingers crossed we cross paths once more...

That same chap is causing a stir on the M6 as of the 27th of April 2021. I've lost £70 and now I'm left pondering my principles-what a numpty I’ve been!

Absolutely a dodgy operation! I unfortunately got taken in by the very same scam that others have recounted here. The chap had children with him, and there was a woman alongside him as well; they managed to swindle me out of £250. I genuinely thought I was lending a hand to someone in a tough spot. After a spell of complete silence from them, I decided to look up the number, but alas, it was far too late. It's disheartening how similar these accounts are to my own experience. One can only learn from it, I suppose. I'm planning to report it to Vodafone since they're associated with this number. Let’s hope they locate him soon. It’s unfortunate that it’s not only the unfortunate souls losing money but also the doubts it plants in others, making them hesitant to assist those in need in the future.

Yesterday, I encountered someone at the Warwick North services. I must admit, I let my guard down and handed over some cash, despite being 99% certain it was a con. He gave me a call to share his number, promising to pay me back the following day once he was home.

Please, someone needs to put a stop to this chancer who exploits kind-hearted individuals. I was approached by a dodgy bloke on the motorway, and I’ve heard similar tales from others, including my sister. This fella operates near large retail spots like Tesco, and it’s quite alarming. He drives a light-coloured Toyota Verso and harangs people for cash, claiming it’s for petrol or food, insisting he’ll repay them later. It’s all a ruse! If you spot this man, I urge you to report him to the authorities. He calls himself Mr John Paul McDonagh, born on 26th May 1982. His supposed address is 5 Rockfield Park, Belleek, Enniskillen, and his mobile number is 07467460344. He's around 36 years old, and let me tell you, he’s not to be trusted. Keep your wits about you and alert the police if you come across him - he’s a menace!

I had the unfortunate experience of being conned by a chap named John, who hails from Ireland. This incident occurred at the Hopwood Park Motorway Service Area. He was behind the wheel of a silver Vauxhall Insignia with the registration number KY65 CKJ, and he managed to swindle me out of some cash.

Absolutely, I got conned out of cash for fuel by this bloke who was tugging at my heartstrings with tales about his children. The vehicle he was driving is a silver Vauxhall Insignia from 2015, and the registration is KY65CKJ.

Steer clear of this bloke; he's nothing but a fraudster. Being Irish myself, I reckon my Irish mates would be absolutely livid. He’s got the audacity to swear on his children’s lives and even his mother’s. Absolutely not to be trusted! Goes by the name of John, but don’t be fooled.
