I got a call from someone claiming to be from the Law Society, saying they were ringing about a car accident I supposedly had in March. They even mentioned the garage that fixed my car and said they had all my paperwork in front of them. I told the woman (she spoke with a British accent) that my accident didn't happen in March. She asked when it did, but I pointed out that if she really had my documents, she’d already know the correct date. She got defensive straight away, questioning why I was being so suspicious and not giving her the details. I asked if she was aware that accident-related scam calls are quite common, especially from mobiles, which most scammers use. Then she started shouting and said she'd call me back with the right information. I told her that was fine but reminded her that I had her number and that she’d called a police phone, so her info was already out there. Of course, she never bothered to ring me back.
