Got a phone call and a message from this number saying I owed them £500 or they'd come after my family for the cash! Sounds like some kind of legal threat, maybe extortion? The voice on the line had such a thick accent I couldn’t make out a word, so I just ended the call. Then the texts kept coming. No clue who they are or how they even got my details. Definitely don’t pick up if this number rings you.

Make sure you send all the messages you get to 7726, including the info about when each call came through. This is what the police Action Fraud site says you should do when reporting phishing. It might be a good idea to let your local cops know about these calls and texts too. Threatening people for money is quite a serious crime.
