If you get texts like this, send them to 7726 and also take a screenshot and email it to '[email protected]'. This helps the right people track down where these messages are coming from and look into any links that might have malware. It’s similar to those thousands of fake parking fine texts flooding the UK recently - all from various numbers and containing dodgy links. Reporting them really does matter. For more details on how to report things like scam calls, texts with links, emails and the like, check out the PHISHING section on the National Cyber Security Centre website.

Got a message claiming I could get some sort of 'living allowance' supposedly from the 'UK government.' The message said something like ‘If you can show proof you qualify, you can apply’ and warned ‘If you don't claim within the next day, the money will be given to others in need.’ It ended with ‘Thanks for supporting the UK Government.’ They even had exact quotes in the text. The so-called deadline was just 24 hours, but I reckon it was all made up!
