Got a call from this number today, and I just told the person to shove off.

Got a call from a recorded voice claiming to be Amazon, talking about my Prime subscription auto-renewing. Seemed a bit fishy to me.

It keeps freezing my screen and I can’t get back in, really annoying!

I just received this alert on my iPad, and now Safari won't even open. Pretty obvious scam - who on earth would have the police ask for payment through iTunes gift cards? Total nonsense.

This thing locked my Safari browser! Just check out the terrible spelling and weird English! Go into settings and clear your history ASAP! It’s clearly some sort of scam pretending to be the police. Don’t reply to it, just ignore!

Was called from this number while using Safari and got locked out right away. Felt something fishy, couldn’t see why the Met Police would be asking for £200 in iTunes gift cards as payment. Big thanks to everyone sharing the fix - I just switched to airplane mode and cleared my Safari history, and it did the trick for me.

Back on 19/1/17 I posted about this - if you want to clear things up, just head into settings, switch on airplane mode, pick safari, then erase the history. Did that and it sorted the issue, safari’s working fine again now.

Is this for real a scam or nah? I’m starting to get pretty worried about it. Anyone got any idea?

Just had a run in with a nasty cyber scam, someone pretending to be the Met Police saying I owed a £200 fine that had to be paid via iTunes. I downloaded loads of antivirus apps and even turned my phone off and on, but nothing helped. Luckily, some good folks here gave advice, cheers for that! If you're caught out like me, head to your settings, go into Safari and clear your history and data - that actually sorted it for me.

I had this happen too. Just head into your settings and delete your Safari history and data. That usually sorts it out.

i got a call from someone saying they were the police and told me my internet would be cut off unless i called back to sort it out. sounded totally dodgy to me so i just ignored it and blocked the number. definitely a scam trying to scare people into phoning them.

This number’s definitely being used by scammers, gotta notify the cops and track down whoever’s trying to rip people off with iTunes vouchers.

I'm pretty sure someone's pretending to be from the Metropolitan Police just to scam people into giving them iTunes vouchers.
