I suspect it was yet another scam regarding Windows.

I tend to cut short any calls coming from overseas call centres. I called 1471 to find out the number and was instructed to “please hang up.” If BT is aware that these are fraudulent calls, why on earth aren’t they putting a stop to them? I've been registered with the call preference service for nearly a decade, yet BT seems incapable of enforcing it, and Ofcom doesn't seem to be much help either. Who exactly is ensuring that they are held responsible?

I kept getting a string of "ding, ding, ding" tones, but no one picked up the phone. Quite frustrating, really!

I received a call claiming to be from Microsoft about a Windows issue. It was clearly a scam.
