Got an SMS telling me to click a link and apply for a £300 winter fuel payment before 15th October 2025 (which is today!). It said it was from the UK Government Works and Pension Department or something like that. Pretty sure real UK Gov departments don’t send texts from normal phone numbers, they always send official letters!

To my knowledge, official government agencies don’t usually send texts, especially about important things like this, they use proper letters. I've just gone ahead and blocked the number.
