Got a text on 3rd May 2019 saying I needed to get in touch to collect some unclaimed money belonging to the late Mr (my last name). Total scam, no doubt about it! Stay away!

Got a text from +44 7452286449 saying, "my firstname", asking me to get in touch on that same number or email them about some unclaimed money linked to the late Mr. "my last name". The sender said they were Clairmont. I tried ringing them a few times - the line was awful and kept cutting out, but I did catch that I should email instead. Since the estate was dealt with ages ago, I felt a bit suspicious and looked up other people’s stories. After reading loads of warnings here, I’m certain it’s dodgy and I’m not going to reply. Classic scam, it seems.

They claimed to be from 'sblegal[###]', which seems like a fake law firm trying to appear authentic by copying an Indian legal company's name. They even threw in my last name, like loads of others have mentioned here. The message said something like "Goodday. I would definitely add that number to your block list straight away.

I got a text with the same message but the last name they used wasn’t mine, it was actually the name of the person who the phone number was ever linked to on a bill. Makes me think Telstra might have shared my info, or maybe the debt collector Telstra handed the case to has something to do with it.
