Got a message saying just “hi.” When I asked who it was, they said they’d just got to England and someone gave them my number. I told them straight up that I knew they were after money, like one of those romance scams. Looking back, I probably should’ve just ignored them or told them to buzz off instead of replying.

My laptop got locked and they kept telling me to call a number, but Microsoft never provides a phone number like that. Total scam if you ask me. Don’t click on any ‘run’ buttons. Just hit Ctrl + Alt + Delete to shut down any suspicious apps or sites, then just use your usual antivirus to be safe.

Got a call from this number claiming they are from Microsoft Windows security saying my laptop was locked up. Pretty sure it's a scam though.

I've had the exact same experience happen to me as well.

I tried using my laptop and it suddenly got locked, telling me to ring this number. When I called, they managed to take over my computer! I've ended the call and disconnected since then.
