Poor older folks or anyone not really good with tech might easily get tricked by this. Definitely REPORT and BLOCK! And whatever you do, don’t tap on any links they send.

I got a message from this number saying, "Hi, I'm Abdul from India, and we're supposed to have an arranged marriage in Argentina in five days. Love, Abdul." It seemed sketchy to me, so I just blocked and deleted it right away!

They just keep ringing me nonstop. Earlier today, I got a call from +44 7451 293463, with someone saying they were from some national debt company or something similar. A few weeks ago, I told them to stop phoning me, and the guy just said no, we won’t be stopping. When I said I’d report them, he just dared me and said “go ahead, but we’re still going to call you.” It’s really annoying how they’re so rude about it.

Got a message from 07451229329 after I put something up for sale on Facebook Marketplace. They said they'd bought the item and supposedly sent money to my PayPal. Then they asked me to look in my junk email for a confirmation. Nothing showed up in my actual PayPal account, just a dodgy email in the spam folder. Not long after, I got a text from a totally different number claiming there had been dodgy activity on my PayPal and that I needed to verify my ID again. Didn’t even bother clicking the link. Honestly, do they really think we’re gullible? These sorts of people are just despicable, leeching off decent folk like us.

Had some numpty ringing me up today, trying the exact scam with a thing I was selling on Gumtree, claiming they’d pay via PayPal. Seriously, it’s so frustrating dealing with these muppets who think they can get away with it. Wish there was a way to make them understand but they seem to have zero ethics. Honestly, best to just ignore them and hope they find proper work one day.

On 5th October 2020, I got a message on WhatsApp from someone interested in buying something I had listed on GumTree. He wanted to pay through PayPal and mentioned a courier would come pick it up. Something felt off, so I decided to look into the number and ended up revealing he was dodgy. The photo linked to the number showed a boat on a river.

Some guy called Brandon Walters was trying to scam my mum on Gumtree, asking to buy something and wanted to pay through PayPal. Lucky I gave her my email and PayPal info instead, 'cos he then asked for a £105 Amazon gift card - sounded super dodgy. We reported him straight away. Just be careful out there and don’t get caught by stuff like this!

This Lisa Murray Degisi person is a total con artist, everyone knows it. Loads of flashy cars and a massive house, yet she’s never done an honest day’s work. Someone was trying to buy something I was selling on Gumtree. They claimed they'd already sent payment for the item plus the delivery fee through PayPal.
