Someone rang me, saying they were from Argos following up on a complaint I’d made about a dodgy product. They pretended to offer me £230, with a bit extra as a kind of sorry gift. The person was really courteous and seemed genuinely sorry about the issue. Then they told me to install this app called Lemfi, claiming it was for processing the payment. That’s when I got a bad feeling and ended the call immediately. It was obviously a con. Argos wouldn’t ever get in touch through any social networks or third-party apps like WhatsApp.
