Had a dodgy roofer come round who gave me a quote and took a deposit. Weeks went by with delays and when they finally showed up, they brought some young guys who slapped together some really flimsy timber supports that looked like they wouldn’t last a day. I ended up cancelling the whole thing and asked for my deposit back, but never got it returned. Proper scam.

I dealt with a so called builder who settled on a price and the job details but then demanded a deposit upfront, only to vanish with my cash afterwards. Total scammer!
