Seems dodgy to me since official info says the payment is automatic and no application needed. Plus, the message said it’s linked to 9 other numbers and only lets you ‘leave conversation’ instead of block, which is odd. I really doubt the DWP would reach out like that!!

Got a text from this number, came through as RCS - Rich Communication Services, about some Government Energy Allowance for households from DWP. It said I had to apply before 20th June by clicking a link to get the grant. Seemed dodgy to me since the official gov sites say the payment is automatic and you don’t have to do anything. Plus, the message mentioned 9 other people were included in the chat, which meant I couldn’t block the number, only had the option to ‘leave conversation’. Definitely looks like a scam to me.
