My mum got a text on 11th Feb claiming the government was giving pensioners a £300 heating grant if they applied by 12th February 2025. It told her to call a certain number to claim it. I checked around and couldn’t find any info about such a grant, and the government never uses mobile numbers for this kinda thing anyway. I told her to just ignore the message and instead look up the official government helpline number online and give them a ring to report the scam.
