That call showed a UK number, but it actually came from abroad. I found out they use Voxbone SA, which is a VOIP service that hides where the call really comes from. No message was left. Definitely a scam.

Got a call from a bloke who said his name was Tom, using a recorded message. He told me not to worry as he wasn’t trying to sell me anything, but what freaked me out was he already knew my first name. This has happened to me more than once now, and I’m starting to think it might be one of those car loan scams.

I answered this call and the person on the other end already knew my name, but the voice sounded so robotic, like some kind of AI. They were going on about insurance claims, which made me think it's probably a scam.

This is a scam, pure and simple. When I phoned the number, the line was all crackly and a robotic voice asked, "May I know who's calling?" Sounds fishy to me. I read somewhere that if you reply, they might be able to copy your voice. Just be careful and don’t answer!
