Picked up the phone and there was total silence, although I could hear some faint sounds behind the line. I tried saying "hello, is anyone there?" a couple of times but got nothing back. Ended up hanging up and I’m definitely blocking that number from now on.

I got a call I missed, so I rang back. An automated voice, sounding eerily real, picked up calling itself Tom from Reclaim and asking me who I was. Weirdly, just like another number that rang me two days ago with the very same name and company, repeating the identical spiel. If you reply, it switches to these set questions where they try to get you to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’, which instantly raised alarm bells for me, so I ended the call. Feels like they’re trying to record your voice to mimic you or something dodgy like that.

The moment I picked up, the caller called me by my full name and then asked if I was X. I said no straight away since I know it’s pretty common for scammers to have someone speak fluently to get people’s answers recorded, which they might use in dodgy ways later.
