I called their bluff and kept pressing them till I got talking to their "executive manager" because the first lot were clearly making stuff up left and right. Total scam if you ask me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with EE saying they needed to check if I’d got my new SIM, then asked me to delete my old number and verify my email and home address. I got so annoyed that I was eventually passed up to an Executive Manager because the staff kept acting like nothing had happened.
