Got a text from 447493900506 telling me my direct debit card had expired and asking for my email to send a new one within 2 or 3 days. The grammar was terrible and they never said which bank or building society they were from. Felt like a total scam to me. I’ve blocked the number so they can’t bother me again.

If you get calls from scam numbers, the best thing to do is report them to 'Action Fraud'. Honestly, that’s how we’ve got any chance of putting a stop to these scams over time. Without reporting, nothing really changes.

Lately, my landline gets spammed so much I've just let it go straight to voicemail. This number rang me at 8:39 this morning with an automated message of a lady speaking in an American accent, claiming I'd bought an Ebay gift card and that $199.99 would be taken from my credit card. They told me to call a different number to stop the charge - obviously I didn't bother. Still, I can totally see how some folks might fall for it, especially if they're not too tech-savvy.

I got a call with a recorded voice, sounded American. It said something about my "credit card" being charged with some random amount and told me to call a number to stop it. The message was really fast, barely made out what they said.

Asked loads about what devices I had. I didn’t give him any info and he still kept ringing back. Sounded pretty believable, but watch out for it.

Got a call earlier today from a guy who sounded Indian, telling me my internet wasn’t safe. He was really persistent and sounded quite convincing, especially if you’re not that tech-savvy. I just hung up on him. I wouldn’t trust that number - 07440 910056 - if I were you.

Got a recorded message with an American accent saying I was about to buy a pricey eBay gift card in dollars. It gave me a number to call if I wanted to stop the purchase. Got a call from an Asian guy claiming to be with BT Open Reach about my internet - I ain’t even with them! He never asked for me by name either. I told him straight up he was trying to scam me and called him a few rude names. Then he rang me back twice, clearly annoyed, which makes me think he’s dodgy since a genuine worker wouldn’t bother. I gave him what for again both times. Don’t bother calling that number back, I looked into it later and my phone was dialing on its own. Proper sketchy little scammer, honestly deserves a good slap.

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent, said he was calling from Virgin Media. He wanted to "check" my router, which I found pretty dodgy. He asked me to type EVENTVWR on my laptop, but when I asked about their usual security checks, he started getting rude. I know Virgin Media always makes you go through password verification, so this was definitely a con.

I told him I’m with the government and any changes to the network need approval from our secure tech team. Asked him for his phone number so they could get in touch. Of course, he just ended the call. Classic SCAMMERS full of rubbish.

Some muppet rang me at 2:05 PM on Wednesday, December 11th. From his accent, I gather he might be Pakistani. I had a couple of unkind words to share and promptly hung up. I reckon it’s high time the authorities were alerted about this sort of harassment.

Today, 11th December, at 1:40pm I got a call from 07440 910056. The bloke on the phone had a lot of noise in the background and sounded like he was from somewhere in the sub-continent. He said he was calling from BT Openreach about my internet service. Now, that’s a bit dodgy because I use a different company for my internet and it’s hard to believe a BT worker wouldn’t be calling from a landline. As soon as I mentioned that, he quickly hung up. Definitely seemed like a scammer to me!

On 16/11/2019, I got a call claiming hackers from places like Mountain View, California were using my IP address. When I asked where my IP was showing, I told them exactly where it should be. I then asked where they were calling from and they said London, BT HG. I was confused why the line was so poor if they were really in the UK with BT. The caller then admitted, "I’m from Sri Lanka, so my accent’s strong." I told them I suspected a scam and would speak to my internet provider. They just hung up right there.

got a call from +44 7449 10056, sounded like a very heavy Indian accent, said they were checking my internet router cos it was acting up - sometimes fast, sometimes slow. they told me i had to change the number on my device & asked me to keep the call going coz they needed me to get pen and paper for some steps. call lasted over 5 minutes. when i said i was set, jotted down the numbers they told me. then i got suspicious cause my street name was in my suitcase?! honestly, felt like some sort of phishing scam - definitely not trustin them!
