Got a call again from some so-called "Telephone Refund Dept". This time it was a woman speaking with an Indian regional accent, same as always. She claimed I'd been overcharged by over £200 because of some "technical mistake" and said she'd sort out a refund - but needed my info first. My number is both ex-directory and on the TPS list. Total scam, stay well clear.

Got a call from a polite lady with an Asian accent, said her name was Elizabeth and claimed I was owed a refund from BT. I don't even have an account with BT, so it felt fishy. She asked for my account info, which I refused to give. Told her to send something in the post and that I'd reach out to BT directly. She just hung up on me. Definitely a scam.

Got a call saying my Amazon Prime subscription was charged £99 today and if that’s wrong to press 1 to talk to someone. I hit 1 but nothing happened, so I ended up hanging up after a couple of minutes. Feeling kinda anxious, so guess it was legitimate :)

I just got a call from someone claiming to be my bank, but it was definitely a scam. The message was all recorded and sounded a bit dodgy. Watch out, people!

I got a call from 0208 248 3724 with someone claiming to be from Microsoft Support in Reading, telling me my computer had security problems and they would shut it down in 24 hours. I called them out as a scammer, and they denied it, which I found quite funny, then the line went dead. I thought they’d just hung up. But then they phoned me back from 07427 606933, accusing me of ending the call. When I told them it was actually them who’d dropped it, they said sorry! Still, I called them out again for trying to scam me, and they kept denying it, which made me laugh more. Then they got rude, and I joked they should take a Microsoft Customer Service class to sort out their bad manners. Despite the insults, they kept insisting it was a legit call. After about five minutes talking over both calls, I said I was going to hang up - but they beat me to it.

I generally just let calls from numbers I don’t know go to voicemail, but since I was waiting for a call from my insurance, I answered it. The person on the line had a strong foreign accent and claimed to be from Virgin's tech support, saying there were some errors on my modem. I told him I couldn’t understand a word he was saying and then he just hung up on me!

I have no clue who that was, so I didn’t pick up. They left a voicemail though.

I never pick up calls from numbers I don’t know, I just let them go to voicemail. If it’s something urgent, mates or family usually leave a message anyway. There’s a good programme called Scambusters on BBC that helps with these scams. It’s a bit annoying that phone companies don’t stop these fake UK number calls coming from India though.

Just like a bunch of others here, the bloke said he was from Microsoft but got really annoyed when I didn’t play along. I told him I’d keep chatting just to waste his time and maybe stop him from conning someone else. After about 5 minutes, he finally gave up.

Some bloke rang saying he was from Microsoft, claiming my computer was hacked. I told him I was about to head out and couldn't turn on my laptop to check his "urgent" messages. He then gave me some Microsoft address and said I needed to take my computer to Reading by the next day. Reading?! I’m in Cornwall, for crying out loud! After that, I mentioned I actually use an Apple Mac.
