Got a dodgy call pretending to be from HMRC today! It was an automated message, but with a strong American accent, telling me I was facing legal action because I hadn’t submitted some paperwork. The recording said to press 1 to speak to someone, which I obviously didn’t do. Two things seemed fishy: one, the call came from a mobile number - I’d expect HMRC to ring from an official landline. And two, why on earth would a UK government agency use a voicemail that sounded like it was recorded in the States? Definitely a scam in my book!
