2 yearsToday at precisely 14:01, my phone rang. It was an automated message claiming that a sum of £1500 had been requested by Amazon for an iPhone 15. The robotic voice instructed me to press 1 if I wished to be connected to Amazon. When I did, a woman with an Indian or Pakistani accent picked up and asked how she could assist me. I simply responded, “You’re the one that called me.” She then replied, “Ah yes, it appears you’ve made a significant purchase from Amazon.” At that moment, I asked her to hold for just a second. I quickly ran through my various account apps on my phone to check for any unusual activity. There was nothing out of the ordinary. Returning to the call, I said, “Right, can I help you?” To which she retorted, “What are you doing?” I mirrored her question, replying, “What are you doing?” At that point, they hung up on me.
