Picked up the phone but no one said a word. Tried calling back and the number was just dead silent.

I didn’t answer the initial ring as I was busy, and it went straight to voicemail where nothing was said for about a minute. When the phone rang a second time, I finally picked up and could hear some sort of background noise, but I just stayed quiet to see what they’d do next.
