I got a text earlier that said: “Hello! We’ve noticed a problem in your vicinity which may disrupt your services, leading to an internet outage. We're looking into this matter with immediate attention. More updates will be provided shortly.” Interestingly, this is the same number that recently messaged me about encouraging a friend to join brsk, my internet service provider. As a brsk customer with fibre broadband, I’m quite tempted to take this at face value. However, I couldn’t find any reference to this number on their official website or within any customer correspondence. I reckon it's wise to avoid clicking on any links included in such messages or sharing personal details over the phone, just to be on the safe side.

Got their number at some birthday bash, but something felt off. I reckon it's best to just block and report them.

Got this strange message that kicked off with "Hello, my mate," then the person said they spotted my number on their phone but couldn’t remember who I was. Seems like a total scam to me.

Got a text out of the blue saying something like, "Your number popped up on my phone but I don't know the name. Do we know each other?" Total con job. Best to just block and report it straight away.
