On the 16th of February 2023, I received a rather unexpected call from the number 07418356662. A woman on the line told me that her firm was planning to release a magazine come April, and she was keen to know if I would be interested in promoting my painting and decorating business within its pages. Apparently, all proceeds from the magazine sales would be donated to the local children's hospital, which sounded commendable, but they were asking for nearly £200 from me. Curiosity got the better of me, so I probed a bit further. She mentioned that the magazine would be sold by door-to-door efforts and by setting up outside shops - quite the grassroots venture! However, I must say the overall vibe from the caller and her company struck me as rather amateurish and off-putting.

I got a rather dodgy voicemail the other day, where the caller, who purported to be from HMRC, insisted that there was a fraudulent claim lodged in my name. They urged me to hit 1 immediately to steer clear of any legal trouble. Quite the alarming message, I must say!
