I answered and said hello like five times but got no reply, then suddenly there was a beep followed by an automated voice saying goodbye.

I got a message about an item I had listed, but when he finally called to talk it over, his reply was really strange.

I just got hit with this one too. The message came from +44 7418 339333 saying something like "go0d." They wanted me to organise a collection with a man and van once I'd paid up. Then they asked for my PayPal email, full name, and where to collect from. Bit dodgy if you ask me.

loads of messages about buying stuff off gumtree. they want to pay by paypal and even send a removal guy to pick it up. seems a bit dodgy to me.

Someone called Jose got in touch regarding an expensive item I had on Gumtree. He said he’d pay through PayPal and have a removal guy pick it up. It felt dodgy when he asked for my PayPal info and address. Really glad I checked on who-called(###]####] - hopefully this warns others so no one unsuspecting falls for it.

Was trying to pull a scam on me via Gumtree, some bloke called Jose claiming to be from Dundee.

Joseph was trying to scam me. He claimed he bought an expensive item from me on Gumtree through PayPal. Then, I got an email that looked like it came from PayPal saying the payment had gone through, but it was all fake. He even tried to get me to pay for a courier, saying he’d paid extra on PayPal, which was a lie. Dodged a bullet there!

I got a call about some pricey gumiree thing. Right away, the guy said he'd send a courier as soon as he paid through PayPal. He wasn’t really interested in seeing the item first, which made me quite doubtful about the whole thing.

Be careful with this one, they pretend to be called Joseph on Gumtree but might use different names too. Definitely a Paypal scammer, best to steer clear.
