I received a rather alarming notification on my computer, declaring that it had been locked. I happened to be perusing Microsoft news when it popped up, claiming to be from Microsoft itself. Foolishly, I dialled the number provided, only to quickly realise I had fallen for a scam. In a panic, I unplugged my computer, and thankfully, it appears to be functioning well now. I received a rather troubling voice message claiming that my computer had been locked and urging me to 'ring this number at once.' It seemed to be from Microsoft and had their logo displayed. Curious, I dialled the number, only to be greeted by an automated message informing me that they were unable to take calls at that time and to try again later. My computer had completely frozen, so I decided to disconnect the power and restart it. Thankfully, it seems to be functioning normally now (I'm currently using a different PC to communicate). However, I'm in the midst of scanning the troubled computer to figure out what’s gone awry.

A warning suddenly appeared on my laptop claiming to be from Microsoft Security, saying my computer was infected with Trojan Spyware and had been locked. It told me to ring a toll-free number (07418319781) so some “engineers” could help fix it. I wasn’t convinced, so I just shut the laptop down straight away, left it off for a few mins, then switched it on again. So far, everything looks fine and nothing weird going on.
